Endless Trails Await!

With its robust network of shared-use paths and cyclist-friendly accommodations, the Metro East offers a truly exceptional, all-season cycling experience that can be enjoyed by both enthusiasts and casual cyclists alike. This is due in no small part to the Madison County Transit District (MCT) and St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD), both of which played an invaluable role in establishing a good majority of the high-quality trail infrastructure that exists today. Of the 224+ miles (and growing) of regional bike trails, roughly three-quarters are hard-surface and interconnected, making for a comfortable, enjoyable outing any time of the year. From the MCT Confluence Trail that meanders the mighty Mississippi River to the MetroBikeLink Trail that spans across rural farms and fields, prairieland, cityscapes, and forests; exceptional biking opportunities await you, here, in the Metro East.
