There are an endless number of opportunities and locations to run in the Metro-East, from the 200+ miles of shared-use paths that interconnect the region’s communities, neighborhoods, and businesses, to the many park paths, hiking trails, sidewalks, and shared-use roads that exist throughout Madison and St. Clair Counties. And with its diverse mix of surface types, elevations, and scenery, it’s easy to find a trail/route in the Metro East that is perfectly suited for you, your skill level, and preferences.

Or perhaps you prefer to take the path less traveled? ...in which case, you might enjoy a jog or run through one of the region's nature preserves with towering old growth forest, wetlands, and prairieland. One such example is the SIUE Nature Preserve in Edwardsville, IL, which offers 3.4 miles of moderate-skill, looped natural surface trails that wind through 380-acres of old growth bluff forest.
