About Engelmann Farm Park
Looking to take a stroll in a passive park environment with incredible views... look no further than Engelmann Farm Park located in the Village of Shiloh. The Park is owned and operated by St. Clair County, IL.
Originally the 1833 homestead of Friedrich Engelmann, who represented the first surge of German migration to Illinois, St. Clair County sought to preserve the history of this 145± acre property in 2007 by acquiring and repurposing it into a public park. Today, Engelmann Farm features 1.25-mile of walking trails, numerous picnic tables, and benches along the trail. The site also includes two homesteads circa 1860 and 1900 and a private historic cemetery which, in 2000, was dedicated a historical site by the St. Clair Historical Society.
More recently, Engelmann Farm underwent several quality-of-life upgrades—to include a newly paved entrance roadway with added landscaping and ¼-mile concrete bike trail, an expanded parking lot, and other enhancements to accessibility and security—all of which reached completion in 2021.
