About the Orchard Loop Trail

SCCTD's Orchard Loop Trail in central St. Clair County, Illinois is a destination unto itself! This 4-mile trail is enveloped in natural beauty with rolling pastures, lush orchards, and farmlands adorning its surrounding landscape.

Planning a visit to Eckert's? Make a day out of it by incorporating a bike ride or walk into your visit, or take a break from the trail and enjoy a visit into Eckert's Store. And with the added convenience of its connection to the MetroBikeLink Trail, trail users can park at the Eckert's Trailhead, hop on a bike, and venture all the way to the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station, SWIC, or Scott AFB!

The trail extends from Eckert's Family Farm at its southernmost point, bisecting the farm's fruit orchards and continuing north before connecting to the SCCTD MetroBikeLink Trail. The Orchard Loop Trail's second phase, which reached completion in 2020, extended the trail east of Eckert's Store and across Green Mount Road via a pedestrian bridge. The segment continues north along Green Mount Rd. and terminates at the Orchard's subdivision.
